Factory:
The factory is located in Austria and has been setting standards in the area of high quality and ecologically safe wooden floors worldwide for 30 years. Wood has been cut and processed in the forests around the Monastery where the factory is located since the 11th century. All this has made it possible to develop one of the leading brands among quality floors.
Production:
Mocca offers a range of floors in darker color shades, utilizing native hardwood species from sustainable forest cultivation (PEFC quality seal). This is possible due to the innovative thermo-treatment where the wood is heated to more then 200 Celsius. This natural process is very similar to the caramelization of sugar, causing traditionally lighter wood species to darken. By regulating the intensity & duration of the heat, different color shades can be achieved so that our customers can select from an extensive variety of darker timbers. This innovative treatment allows us to offer you the largest possible selection of darker floors, produced without using tropical wood species, chemicals or dyes. The thermo-treatment changes the color of the whole wearlayer so it is all the same which makes dings and scratches almost un-noticeable. The thermal treatment does not only give the floor an appealing appearance But also makes it much more stable. The heat treatment of the wood combined with the structure, means that the equilibrium moisture content is reduced by approximately 40%. This considerably reduces swelling, shrinkage & movement related to the natural forces in the wood. Mocca is four times more stable than solid floorboards. The properties of Beech, one of the most unstable wood species are tremendously improved by this treatment. Beech Mocca is even suitable for use over radiant heating systems.
